Each high school has a Driver Education class.  Students may register in the front office during the registration dates posted above.  Students are selected chronologically by birthdate.  We decide how many students are needed to fill the session and then invite students and parents to a meeting to explain how to obtain a permit and pay the fee.  The cost is $180 for the class and a fee of $26.50 to purchase the permit. Students must have a certified copy of their birth certificate with the stamped seal on it to purchase the permit.  Be sure you have this birth certificate before you sign up. NO photocopies of the birth certificate are allowed.  Students must be at least 14 ½ years of age and have a 2.0 G.P.A. to enroll in class. Students that are not selected for a session must sign up again for the next session to be considered. We do not carry student’s names over to the next session.

Students who don’t get selected for the face-to-face classes will have the chance to take online IDLA classes. Students must get prior authorization from the school they want to complete their driving portion of driver education in order to secure a spot with instructors at their home high school.  Numbers may be limited. Students will be required to pay the $75 fee to IDLA for the classroom instruction and $180 to their high school for the driving portion of the class.

IDLA Students will need to pick up an Authorization form and a Verification of Compliance form from their school in order to purchase a Driver Training Permit. The Authorization form secures a spot for them to drive at that school. Students must have a certified copy of their birth certificate with the stamped seal on it, a social security number, and a picture ID to purchase the permit.

Canyon Ridge High School has their classes from 6:45-7:45 a.m. 5 days a week for 7 weeks.   Classes are held in room 302. Twin Falls High School has their classes from 7:00-8:00 a.m. 5 days a week for 7 weeks.  Classes are held in room Q1.  We will have only one session in the summertime. Summer school class times are 7:00-9:00 am at Twin Falls High School and from 6:45-7:45 at Canyon Ridge High School.

Driving times are scheduled by the instructor, usually after school and on the weekends. Students are allowed only 2 absences, 3 tardies equal one absence.   Students are graded on the classroom, driving, and attitude.  Students must pass all 3 areas to pass the course. Students will be charged a missed drive fee of $50 for missing a scheduled drive. Class starting dates are subject to change based on School Calendar events and instructor availability. Sign-up dates are subject to change as affected by changes in the calendar.
