At Twin Falls School District, our elementary programs are designed to build a strong foundation for lifelong learning. Our focus on literacy ensures that every student develops the reading and writing skills essential for success in all areas of life. We emphasize critical thinking and problem-solving to help students become confident, independent learners.
We offer a 4th and 5th grade Gifted and Talented Program (housed at Morningside Elementary School) for students who excel academically and benefit from a more challenging curriculum. Additionally, our Dual Immersion Program (Housed at Oregon Trail Elementary School) provides a unique opportunity for students to become bilingual and biliterate, preparing them for a global future.
Beyond academics, each of our elementary schools offers specials classes that enrich the educational experience. These include Physical Education (PE), Music, Computers, and Library, allowing students to explore various interests and develop well-rounded skills.
Standards-Based Grading
At Twin Falls School District, we use standards-based grading to provide parents and students with a clear picture of academic progress. This approach focuses on assessing students' understanding of specific skills and concepts, rather than giving a general grade for each subject. Parents receive detailed information about where their children are excelling and where they may need additional support. This helps families and teachers work together to address learning gaps and celebrate achievements, ensuring each student can reach their full potential.
