Students from Canyon Ridge High School and Twin Falls High School showcased their creativity and engineering skills at the Idaho Exchange of Ideas (IDX) design and prototyping competition at CSI, hosted by the Idaho STEM Action Center EcosySTEM. 🖨️🧠

Canyon Ridge students Max O’Connor, Tanner Waldner, and Mason Hobbs earned 1st place in the High School Division for their innovative golf ball design, Flex Flight. Dylan Schull and Zayden Earl earned 3rd place for their motocross goggles design, Apex Wipe, which also received the Student Choice Award as voted on by student participants. Twin Falls High School’s White Team, led by Mrs. Moore, earned 2nd place, while Mrs. LaMarche’s team received the Judges’ Choice Award. 🏅

Canyon Ridge’s success also earned the Engineering program a new 3D printer and $600 in funding. To top it off, Mrs. LaMarche’s team took their trophy to the “next level” by adding a simple motor to animate it after returning to school! ⚙️✨

Engineering in action at O’Leary Middle School!⚙️ 🤖

Students in Ms. Johnston’s Robotics class recently put their skills to the test with an exciting catapult challenge. Using force sensors, teams programmed robots to launch catapults, designed their own projectiles, and worked together to knock down opposing forts 🎯🏰
