📚✨ One District, One Book – Character Chat! ✨📚

As we begin reading The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, tonight’s discussion is all about our main character, Edward Tulane! 🐰💙

Talk together as a family about these questions:

💭 What kind of character is Edward?
💪 What are his strengths?
💔 What are his weaknesses?
🤝 Would you want Edward as a friend? Why or why not?
🏡 Would you want him to be part of our family?

At the beginning of the story, Edward can seem proud and self-centered — but is that all there is to him? As his journey unfolds, we begin to see change, growth, and the power of love and loss.

We would LOVE to hear your family’s thoughts! ❤️
👇 Post your responses in the comments and share your insights with our Perrine Panther community! 🐾💜

Let’s keep building a love of reading — one chapter at a time.

📚💜 One District, One Book: The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane 💜📚

We are thrilled to share that our One District, One Book selection is The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo!

Every family has received a copy of this beautiful story, and we encourage you to read it together at home. Through Edward’s journey, students will explore themes of love, loss, hope, and the power of opening your heart.

Our hope is to grow a love of literature in our students while strengthening family connections through shared reading time. There is something truly special about gathering together to read, reflect, and talk about a story as a family. ❤️

Be watching for discussion questions, and fun activities to go along with each section of the book. We can’t wait for our entire Panther community to experience Edward’s journey together! 🐾💜

🪨🔬 Rock Solid Learning in 4th Grade! 💜🐾

Our 4th graders got an up-close look at sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic rocks in science today! Students examined their characteristics, compared textures, and discovered how each type forms.

Hands-on learning helps bring Earth science to life — and these Panthers were rock stars! 🌎✨

🏛️ Future Leaders in Action! 💜🐾

Our 4th graders stepped into the role of legislators as they practiced passing bills in the House of Representatives!

Students debated ideas, shared opinions, followed procedures, and voted just like real lawmakers. Through this hands-on experience, they learned how laws are created and the importance of respectful discussion and civic responsibility.

We’re so proud of the thoughtful conversations and leadership skills our Panthers demonstrated! 👏

🔬👓 Our students became scientists!
They learned how to read like a scientist by analyzing informational texts, identifying and comparing authors’ points of view, and forming their own conclusions. Students backed up their thinking with explicit text evidence—just like real researchers!

To help with their analysis, students even created point-of-view scientific goggles and magnifying glasses, making close reading both fun and meaningful.
