Canyon Ridge High School Future Farmers of America participated in the South Magic Valley District FFA Greenhand Knowledge contest, the FFA Creed contest, and the Employment Skills contest. The Greenhand team placed third overall and had two members place in the top 10. The FFA Creed speaker placed 4th overall. We are so proud of our student leaders who are learning about local industries and improving their own skills!

At Lincoln Elementary, students have plenty of entertaining options for activities on Fun Friday. Instead of playing with Legos, Magnatiles, or their Chromebooks, this group of driven learners chose to practice reading and even took on a lesson aligned with the reading instruction their teachers have been trained on. It looks like we have a group of scholars and maybe some teachers in the making here!

Can you find the teacher learning right along with her students in this picture? At Morningside Elementary School, teachers in grades K-5 worked with Jackie Ismail, a DMTI (a math instruction framework) trainer, to improve their mathematical pedagogy through lesson planning and co-teaching. Topics ranged from understanding doubles, bar models, number line work, finding the nearest 10, arrays, ratio tables, word problems, and using models to understand multiplying fractions.

We are excited to recognize Jill Fisher, fourth-grade teacher at Morningside Elementary, as our Certified Employee of the Month! 🎊
Jill is a teacher and mentor who brings learning to life, creating engaging and inspiring spaces for students and colleagues alike. She loves seeing students light up with curiosity and excitement—and her creativity doesn’t stop at the classroom! Outside of school, Jill designs improv and modern quilts, some of which are featured as vinyl art on electrical boxes at Poleline and Blue Lakes. 🎨🧵
📚 From the Principal:
“Mrs. Fisher is the kind of teacher every child deserves. Her classroom is a cognitively rich environment where students are encouraged to wonder, question, and explore. She designs meaningful, hands-on learning experiences and has a special talent for turning simple materials into something magical. She goes above and beyond every day, and our school is better because of her.”
Congratulations, Jill! ✨

Fifth graders at Rock Creek had an out-of-this-world experience! Twin Falls High School seniors brought a planetarium to school and guided our students through the nighttime sky. They explored constellations and the wonders of space—without even leaving the gym!

Morningside first graders got hands-on with the human body! They studied skeletal, muscular, circulatory, digestive, and nervous systems and worked together to build life-sized body systems.

No student should have to worry about where they’ll study or sleep. But this is a reality for over 300 students in the TFSD. Your gift to Avenues for Hope helps provide food, hygiene items, and stability so students can focus on learning and growing.

Congratulations to Jennifer Van Patten, sixth- and seventh-grade math teacher at O’Leary Middle School, our Certified Employee of the Month! 📐🎉
Jennifer brings positive energy into her classroom every day, using hands-on, 3D projects to make math meaningful and applicable beyond the classroom. She loves watching her students’ creativity come alive and draws inspiration from past mentors and current colleagues as she works to make a lasting difference in students’ lives—no matter how small the moment.
📊 From the Principal:
“Jennifer is often the first to arrive and the last to leave. Nearly every afternoon, she stays late to help students without hesitation or expectation of recognition. She cares deeply about student success, supports her colleagues, and is a quiet force within her department. When she speaks, her words are thoughtful and impactful. We are fortunate to have her at OMS.”
Way to go, Jennifer! 🌟

Mrs. Bender’s math students at OMS put math into motion! 📊
From recipes to race cars, they explored rates of change by creating real-world scenarios, writing equations, and graphing the results.

This fall, there was some exciting progress in the Harrison student garden! The new greenhouse—built by Canyon Ridge students under the guidance of Mr. Hoge—will soon be completed. Thanks to grants from the Twin Falls Education Foundation and Whole Kids, the project now includes a larger greenhouse, workstation tables, shelving, and an expanded drip irrigation system. The Student Garden Team will visit on Friday to see the finished structure and capture some photos. As the garden continues to grow into a valuable hands-on learning space, the next goal is to add a gazebo or shaded area so classes can enjoy the garden comfortably, even on hot days.
