Felicitations Amber Sklavos, Classified Employee of the Month for October! Amber is an Attendance Secretary at Robert Stuart Middle School. The best word that describes Amber is compassionate, she would like to be remembered as an honest and caring person. One of her pet peeves is dishonesty. She is originally from Rupert Idaho, and she draws her inspiration from her kids and husband. She is very family oriented and her favorite hobby is to travel and see new places with her family. A bucket list item she has is to go to Norway or Alaska and see the Northern Lights. She chose her career because she wanted to be on the same schedule as her kids, and have summers and breaks off with them. Her best day on the job is any day that she is able to make a connection with a student and they leave the office feeling heard and better about their situation. Something interesting that people don’t know about Amber is she has never had a sense of smell. Principal Note: Amber is always eager to help and a key member of the office staff. She maintains a smile even when I suspect that her to-do list is overwhelming. She is patient and kind with everyone who comes into the office. We are so glad that Amber has become a member of our RSMS family!

A pat on the back for Kyle Miller, October Certified Employee of the Month! He is a Physical Education Teacher at Sawtooth Elementary. Kyle is originally from Caldwell Idaho. He chose his career as a Physical Education teacher because of the amazing influences he has had throughout his life, the discipline of Physical Education and how it impacts every aspect of a students life. For him, teaching a student the basic fundamentals of physical activity means they are not only learning to live a physically healthier life and participate in physical activity, but increasing social skills, emotional regulation, and cognitive ability. He draws his inspiration from the great teachers he has been surrounded by his entire life. In high school, he had a particular teacher and football coach, Coach Mc Gee, who pushed him to be the best he could be and was the main influence for him becoming a PE teacher. He also watched his aunt put everything into teaching and he was inspired by the great professors at The University of IdahoI to strive for knowledge. The word that best describes him is intentional and he would like to be remembered for the connections he has made and the laughter that comes with it. As he says, "Life's not always fun, but it sure can be funny!”. His hobbies are fishing and cooking and something people don’t often know about him is that he is an outstanding cook and he plays the cello. His biggest pet peeve is when his phone somehow knows what he is about to search for on Google. Someday he would like to Bowfish an alligator gar in Texas. The best day on the job for Kyle was when Dr. Dickinson, in an admin meeting, said “Not only does Kyle have the best beard in the district, but he and his wife just had their 2nd kid a week ago!” Way to go Kyle! Principal Note: Kyle Miller has been an amazing addition to Sawtooth. He brings a wonderful energy and light-hearted spirit that is infectious! He is a great out of the box thinker, and the first to step in to help make our school amazing. Parents, students, and staff appreciate his dedication to the Sawtooth community. Sawtooth is a better place because of Mr. Miller.

Congratulations Taylor Hall for being the Certified Employee of the Month for October. She is a Math Teacher at RSMS. Taylor was born and raised here in Twin Falls. She chose her career because she has always loved to help people learn new things. She loves seeing students get that “lightbulb” moment in math. The best word she feels to describe her is “genuine” and she would like to be remembered as a teacher that cared about her students. Her best day on the job is the last day of school because it is when she gets to see all her former students and talk to them. She often doesn't see former students in the halls, so she loves seeing them and hearing about their lives and listening to the 8th graders talk about how excited they are to go to high school. She always gets a little emotional thinking about all the growth they have done in the short time she has known them. She draws her inspiration from Mrs. Blank, her elementary school teacher from 5th and 6th grade. Mrs. Blank was an amazing teacher, and Taylor still remembers how much she cared about her students. Something not many people know about Taylor is that she has played the violin for 16 years. Her favorite hobby is crocheting . One thing she would like to do is go to a sky lantern festival. Principal Note: First and foremost, Taylor is an outstanding teacher! She creates a warm and accepting culture of learning within her classroom, while holding students to high standards of achievement. Both as a teacher and as a colleague, she connects with people easily. She builds strong relationships with her students and uses that to encourage students to strive to be their best. She models her high expectations of conduct in all of her tasks. With her peers, she is highly respected. She is a natural leader and colleagues often seek her input. We have been blessed to have Taylor as a part of our RSMS family for the last year!
