Earning the Accolade of Knighthood at Harrison 🏰⚔️📚

5th graders at Harrison Elementary are diving into "Adventures of Don Quixote" as part of their reading unit and their teachers brought the story to life in an unforgettable way. Students are being honored with knighthood by completing tasks and homework, collecting coins along the way to purchase the supplies needed for their official ceremony.

Students will be dubbed knights by Harrison’s principal, Lord Larson himself! Engagement has never been higher, and students are loving this creative, immersive approach to learning 👑✨

Learning Through Movement 🏃‍♂️🎉

Harrison Preschool students are loving P.E. time with Ms. May! She has created engaging, developmentally appropriate timed stations that thoughtfully combine movement and learning. While rotating through stations, children practice important pre-academic skills such as sorting, color recognition, and counting.
Through fun gross motor activities like jumping, balancing, throwing, and navigating obstacle courses, students stay active, motivated, and build essential skills through purposeful play 🤸‍♀️🧠

Love was in the air for two of our first-year teachers! 💍

The TFSD is excited to celebrate the engagement of two teachers who met during New Teacher Training. It's proof that sometimes the real lesson plan is fate. ❤️

Congratulations to first-grade teachers Jackson Hodges from Morningside Elementary and Mia Renner from Rock Creek Elementary! Their story might not be quite as headline-making as Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, but we’re pretty sure this is TFSD’s favorite love story of the year.

At Harrison Elementary, Mrs. Rodriguez’s 1st graders created Peace Trees to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 🫶

Students wrote promises of kindness, fairness, and peace on paper leaves, then attached them to the trees as a symbol of their shared commitment to one another and their community.
These Peace Trees stand as a reminder that even our youngest learners can plant the seeds for a better world. 🌱🕊️

A round of applause for our Classified Employee of the Month, Karla Florance! 👏

Karla serves as the Secretary in the Support Services Department at the District Office, where she is known for her diligence, compassion, and willingness to learn from those around her. One of the things she loves most about her role is getting to see the success stories of our students, a moment that makes the work especially meaningful. When asked how she spends her free time, Karla had a clear answer, “Reading, reading, and more reading!” 📖✨

From the Principal:
“Karla is a genuinely compassionate individual who readily lends a hand whenever the opportunity arises. She approaches every situation with an open heart, always looking for ways to uplift and support those around her. Karla takes great pride in her work and consistently strives for excellence in her daily responsibilities. Working alongside Karla has been a genuine pleasure, and I am incredibly grateful for the effort she puts in to ensure our students receive the support they deserve. Her commitment is truly inspiring.”

📚 Read Across America – Schoolwide Reading Event 📚

As part of Read Across America Week and our ongoing effort to build a strong reading culture, Pillar Falls will be participating in a schoolwide read of The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane.

All families received a copy of the book on Friday. The book was sent with the youngest student in each family.

Over the next two weeks, we encourage families to read the book together at home—whether that’s a few pages at a time, reading aloud, or enjoying the story in a way that works best for your family. The first week of March will include fun, lighthearted activities at school connected to the story and the joy of reading.

This experience is meant to be:

📖 A celebration of reading

🤝 A shared experience across grade levels

🎉 A way to build excitement and community during Read Across America Week

We will also be sending home a link to an audio version of the book, featuring Pillar Falls staff members reading chapters—perfect for listening together at home.

Thank you for helping make this a positive and joyful reading experience for our students and families. We’re excited to take this journey together!

We’re excited to recognize Sharlie Amen, Magic Valley High School’s Secretary, as our Classified Employee of the Month! 🎉✨

Originally from Ashton, Idaho, Sharlie chose this career because of her love for helping care for children, and it shows in everything she does. She is often the first smiling face families and students see, helping create a welcoming and positive atmosphere at MVHS. Outside of work, Sharlie enjoys fishing, and heading to Alaska for a fishing adventure sits at the very top of her bucket list. 🎣❄️

From the Principal:
“We are so lucky to have Sharlie as part of our MVHS family. Not only is Sharlie an outstanding secretary, she is a quick learner, shows grace under pressure, and helps set a positive and welcoming atmosphere in the office. Her humor and wit are unmatched. Outside of being an amazing secretary, Sharlie is a wonderful human being and an incredible person.”
