New Principal Hired for Oregon Trail Elementary

The Twin Falls School District Board of Trustees is pleased to announce Tyler Matlock as the new principal at Oregon Trail Elementary School. The new administrator is on the docket for approval at the Monday, Feb. 8 board meeting, 7 p.m. at Canyon Ridge High Schools.

Matlock has served as the Associate Principal at Oregon Trail and Harrison Elementary Schools for the past two years and previous to that he served as the TFSD Technology Coach. Matlock started his teaching career in Oakley where he taught middle school and high school social studies and physical education. Matlock received his teaching degree from BYU Idaho and a degree in education administration from Western Governors University.

ā€œIā€™m looking forward to building relationships with students, staff, and families that I have started in my role as associate principal,ā€ Matlock said.

The vacancy at Oregon Trail was created when current principal Shari Cowger accepted the new principal position at one of the two new elementary schools, Rock Creek Elementary School. Rock Creek and Pillar Falls Elementary Schools will be open for school in the fall of 2016. The new school buildings were funded by the 73.8 million dollar bond levy approved by the community in March of 2014.
