New Principal Hired for SHMS

The Twin Falls School District Board of Trustees is pleased to announce Sara Praegitzer as the new principal at South Hills Middle School. The new administrative hire was approved at the board meeting Wednesday, April  28, 2021. Praegitzer fills the role previously held by Ryan Ellsworth who is leaving the district to pursue a career in the private sector.

Praegitzer is currently the associate principal at O’Leary Middle School. She has worked in the Twin Falls School District since 2007, starting her career as a math teacher at OMS. She taught math and English at Canyon Ridge High School for four and a half years before coming back to OMS in 2013. She served as the school’s instructional coach until 2017 when she took over as the OMS associate principal.

Praegitzer received a master’s degree in 2009 and an Educational Leadership degree in 2019 from the University of Idaho.

“I am extremely excited to be the new Principal of South Hills Middle School and couldn’t be happier about the road that has led me to administration.  Previously, I have been a math and English teacher, an Instructional Coach, and most recently an Associate Principal over the last 15 years.  My passion for education stems from the success of students.  By supporting teachers in their classrooms and involving the community in our school, I know that students can succeed, “said Praegitzer. “Three standards I follow as an administrator are: be visible, be a good listener, and be trustworthy.  When students and staff see me around the school, they know I am here to support them and want to see what’s happening.  I look forward to meeting and working with the community at South Hills and would love to have anyone interested in visiting, come by!”
